Combat automation

Hi everyone.
This is probably long overdue, but recent developments have necessitated that we have a candid discussion about this on an admin level.
Automation is a fact of life in the format we operate in. For good or for ill, that's here to stay. Its always been present to one extent or another, though undoubtedly in recent years its become much more ubiquitous.
We've never really felt the need to step in before concerning this, but a series of things we've seen over the last few months in particular (culminating with a certain new addition today) have really brought this to our forefront worry where the health of the game's combat scene is concerned.
So, despite the difficulties involved in determining these (we're aware of them), we are going to draw a line under a few things. If we catch people provably doing these things, they are going to run afoul of the newest policy (see HELP POLICIES).
- Controlling other clients via issued commands. Do not play the game for other people, basically.
- Using out of character/out of game channels to pass large amounts of combat relevant information. This is more a common sense one. Talking to your buddies on discord about stuff is fine. Passing large amounts of game state or real time data isn't. Don't metagame, don't use ooc mechanics to try to circumvent game mechanics, basically.
We're aware there might be some concerns going forward, but we do not want these things to become a fact of Achaean combat and just become the status quo in the future. If you have thoughts, you're more than welcome to message me, and this policy will not come into effect until the 1st of July so people have time to make any needed changes.
