Pk issues.

Hey everyone,
I'd just like to remind people that the issue system is for cases where you feel there is a genuine problem that needs to be addressed. If you find yourself issuing more than five times in a month in a pk context, you are probably issuing too much. This is not a system for getting people you dislike in trouble - its for addressing excessive behaviour that is not possible to resolve in an IC context.
This is not aimed at anyone in particular, just an unfortunate pattern we're starting to see emerge lately. Some quick guidelines that might be worth running through before you think about issuing. If any of these fail, you probably don't want a pk issue:
- Did you instigate the pk scenario? If yes, you should not issue.
- Did you attempt IC resolution? If no, you should not issue.
- Was it a genuine mistake (best judgement here)? If yes, contracts are almost always the appropriate response, or other IC resolution.
- Are you issuing because you don't like the person rather than because of what they did? If yes, you should not issue.
Naturally, this only applies to typical instances of pk. Some things you should always issue for that occur most frequently in a pk context:
- Malicious spam.
- Harassment.
- Abuse of the contract system (see announces 5056 and 5278 for specifics here if uncertain).
Cheers!
