| The
Gods in Achaea are powerful, enigmatic beings. They
exist for their own reasons and you are well-advised
to pay them the respect they are due. Unlike in
many worlds, Achaea's Gods are played by individual
human beings. They regularly interact with their
worshippers, and provide guidance and advice. Though
they rarely directly interfere, when they do, it
is always with dramatic consequences.
Each of the Gods have
a Divine Order. Joining a God's order is a way
of actively declaring your faith and loyalty to
that god, and a pledging of support to that diety's
cause. Being in an Order is an integral part of
many Achaean's lives, and some find membership
and participation in the activities of the Order
to be the most rewarding aspect of their existence.
It should be noted that each of the Divine Ones
have their own goals and their own distinct methods
of accomplishing them, but they must nearly always
act through mortals, rather than acting directly,
for were direct action permitted, it would lead
to a war such as the world has not seen since
the Chaos Wars.

| Shrines
and Offerings |
|
Offerings
Offerings are the
major way in which you as a devoted follower may gain
your God essence. Many things that a Divinity might
do cost He or She essence. In order to offer to your
God, you must first find a location in which a shrine
to that God has been erected.
Once you have done that,
you must choose what to offer. You may offer gold or
dead things. Be warned that offering gold will automatically
offer all the gold in your hands. Simply type offer
and you will send your offering winging its way to your
beloved patron, who will be notified of your offering.
|
Shrines
As you wander about
the land, you will undoubtedly encounter shrines to
various Gods. These shrines have been erected by highly-ranked
followers of Gods as testaments to the glory of their
God or Goddess, and in order to provide more offering
points for followers.
Those who have attained rank
eight or higher in an Order may erect
shrine . This will take approximately ten seconds,
during which you may not do anything else. It will also
sap half your willpower. It should be noted that shrines
may not be placed closer than four locations away from
each other.
If you wish to help strengthen
a shrine, you will do offer
to sanctify while if you wish to harm a shrine,
you will offer to
defile . In both of these cases, the God's essence
will not be affected.

Order Powers
Please see the page
on Divine Orders.
Ascension
Ascension to the Divine
is perhaps the greatest accomplishment possible within
Achaea. In this process a mortal is transformed into
a God. Thus far in Achaea's history, but three mortals
have ever Ascended. Servelan de Vermiis achieved this
by summoning the Spawn of the Unnamable Horror, transforming
her into Eris, Goddess of Chaos. Elentari Lokelinde-Danial
Ascended through the collective will of the pantheon
of Gods, who deemed her most worthy. She now lives on
as Ourania, Goddess of the Moon. Finally, Maran La'Saen,
the Sultan of Shallam, and a Rider of the Black Boar
in the Order of The Logos, ascended into Pentharian,
the Righteous, while trying to awake the sleeping God
Deucalion from His slumber.
While some mortals have, in
the past, sacrificed themselves in order to bring a
God back to the land, it must be emphasized that this
is _not_ the same thing as Ascension. An Ascension represents
nothing less than a formal recognition that the person
Ascending has reached the pinnacle of achievement within
Achaea. He or she has, in some way or another, left
his or her indelible stamp upon Achaea forever and his
or her name will be forever rememered as one of Achaea's
elite.
For a more personal account
of the moment of Ascension, read the last memories of
Servelan
de Vermiis.

| The
Gods |
Sarapis,
the Logos
Sarapis, the Logos
is the force behind all creation. The inspiration
for this was his desire to experience something
other than oneness. Before this inspiration, all
that was, was Sarapis. To say that this state of
affairs went on for a long time would be a misinterpretation,
as would saying it went on for a short time. Since
time is merely an element of creation, Sarapis transcends
Time.
Long ago, Sarapis was
known as Ayar, and He split His conciousness into
two parts, Ayar and Proteus, who led the Elder
gods. At the time of the reunion of the omnipotent
Ayar and Proteus, the God changed His name to
Sarapis.
Logos is a word in meaning
the cosmic reason giving order, purpose, and intelligibility
to the world.
Though He has since passed on the overseership of Creation to Maya, the
Great Mother, imbuing Her with His own power, He remains a part of the
Pentad that rules Creation.

Eris, Goddess
of Chaos
On the 4th
of Scarlatan, 190 years after the fall of the
Selucarian Empire, an Occultists known as Servelan
de Vermiis completed a vastly intricate experiment
by summoning forth across time and space the Unnamable
Horror, a being of pure Chaos that had died aeons
ago. The unexpected result of this experiment
was that the Unnamable Horror merged with Servelan
finally resulting in the birth of Eris, Goddess
of Chaos. As Eris' realm includes all matters
of chaos, confusion and discord, others often
find her extremely fickle, unpredictable, mischievous
and scattered. She delights in intrigue and plots,
favouring those who show an uncommon aptitude
in disrupting the establishment. Despite her dark
beginnings, she is not necessarily a vindictive
or evil goddess. Her symbol is a golden apple.
|
 |
Oneiros,
God of Peace
Created by the Logos
185 years after the Fall of the Selucarian empire,
The God of Peace stands as a reminder of the more
peaceful way of life in Achaea. Renowned for his
patience and understanding, Oneiros challenges violence
in the land by accepting followers into his order
who abhor violence of any form. Only those pure
of spirit and truly repentant of previous violent
acts are granted access to his Divine Order. His
symbol is a white feather. |
Phaestus,
the Smith
Known by many as the
Father of Dwarves, having created them originally
as intelligent tools and companions, before bartering
for a soul for them, He nevertheless watches over
all races with near equanimity. Phaestus is especially
beloved of craftsmen, artisans and honest labourers,
who, perhaps, feel an affinity with His work. To
those who do not know Him, He is often taciturn
and quick to anger, but to those who do - He is
full of humour and tolerant love. |
 |
Pentharian,
the Luminescent
Much like the
great platinum dragon that stands as the symbol
of the Divine Order of Light and Righteousness,
its immortality representing the eternal presence
of light within all living things within the realm,
while its might personifying the power of Righteousness
against those that would profess to infringe on
the freedom of life and happiness of others. Such
are the teaching of Pentharian and what is expected
of those that call him their lord.
Pentharian is known to
be very selective of his followers. None understand
why some are welcomed into his Divine fold on
the mere merit of their actions alone, while others
find themselves tested in various ways. One thing
that is known to be true about Pentharian is that
he treats his followers and their allies as if
they were his children, nurturing and guiding
them. Though his benevolence towards mortals is
unparalleled, the wrath of Lord Pentharian is
a terrible thing to behold.

Valnurana,
the Goddess of Dreams
The realm of the ancient
Goddess Valnurana has been the subject of fascination
for many through the ages. Her realm is a conflicting
one, with the life sustaining, healing nature of
sleep on one hand and the oft savage, always unpredictable
nature of dreams on the other. Valnurana, whom it
is said is the source of the dreams of all mortalkind,
has remained quietly at the center of this paradox
since the beginnings of time, granting only a few
mortals the chance of a clearer glimpse into the
mysterious Dreamworld. From the days of the first
Dreamseers of the Obeah Ecstasia cult to Her present-day
order, the Goddess leads mortals in pursuit of both
inner and cosmic realizations. Her realm has been
pursued by prophets, seers, scholars, and madmen,
but those She accepts into Her order must have a
unique capacity for insight. In all other aspects,
Her followers may vary to extremes. Valnurana is
associated with the rare black swan and is said
to favour orchid flowers. Her beloved children are
the recognizable angels of madness, fear, and guilt,
and the seductive nightmare siren.

Daedalus, Guardian
of Balance
Daedalus is
the fulcrum upon which the force of Chaos and
Order, Good and Evil, balance. The first Divinity
created by Ayar/Sarapis, his goals are much the
same. Often invisible and working behind the fabric
of reality, he is nevertheless a powerful and
pervading influence. During the Chaos Wars, Daedalus
fought alongside Proteus and the other Elder Gods
to defend orderly Creation from the forces of
pure Chaos.
|
Vastar,
Lord of the Skies
The Sky is vast
and boundless. The infinite realm of Vastar, the
Skylord, represents the complete freedom for all
to pursue their goals, and to fulfill their dreams.
He is known for his impartial attitudes towards
all beings as they all live under the great Achaean
sky. However, only those who are most devoted to
their goals and dreams will be accepted into his
order.

Twilight,
God of Darkness
The Principles
of Darkness are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly,
possesses the Magic Key before whose touch all the
Doors of Ti'rith fly open.
[1]
The Ain Sof is mind; The Multiverse is Mental.
[2]
As above, so below; as below, so above.
[3]
Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates.
[4]
Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything
has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are
the same; opposites are identical in nature, but
different in degree; extremes meet; all truths
are but half-truths; all lies are but half-lies;
all paradoxes may be reconciled.
[5]
Everything flows, out and in; everything has its
tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing
manifests in everything; the measure of the swing
to the right is the measure of the swing to the
left; rhythm compensates.
[6]
Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its
Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance
is but a name for Law not recognized; there are
many planes of causation, but nothing escapes
the Law.
[7]
Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine
and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all
planes."
So it is written in the
Qadeshai, the holy book that forms the basis of
the Order founded by Lord Twilight Trismegistus.
This Order does not seek popular approval or numbers
of followers. They are indifferent to these things,
for they know how few there are in each generation
who are ready for the truth, or who would recognize
it if it were presented to them. They reserve
the strong meat for adults, while they furnish
the milk for babes. They reserve their black pearls
of wisdom for the few elect, who recognize their
value and who wear them in their crowns, instead
of casting them before the materialistic vulgar
swine, who would trample them in the mud and mix
them with their disgusting mental food.
The Divine Emblem of this
Order is a pair of glowing red eyes on a field
of darkness. The symbolism behind this standard
remains unknown to the uninitiated, but it is
said to be an arcane reference to an obscure Darkling
Axiom: "In its essence, the Ain Sof is unknowable
and dark."

Lupus,
God of the Beasts
Lupus, the beating
heart of Nature, the spirit of Lupus, can be found
inthe soul of the wary observer from afar, to the
racing mind of a fearfulprey eluding the hunter,
to the cold, calculating mind of the Predator, Lupus'
spirit flows throughout them all.
The essence of Lupus transcends
the mere savagery of the wilderness, andpermeates
through the ritualistic culture of the Hunt. From
the intricate, enchanting song during a Lupine
offering, to the boisterous escapades of hunters
celebrating over a pint, and even woven within
the wondrous depths of a Tomaculan tapestry; it
is here, in the refinement of mortal culture the
Spirit of Lupus dwells, allowing those worthy
of His blessing to be lost in the hypnotic pleasure
of the Hunt.
The Chosen of Lupus dwell
within the mortal realms under the ways of a Wolf
pack. Undyingly loyal to their brethren, these
wolves tread through the lands not just as an
individual, but an extremity of a greater whole.
The hearts of the Lupine souls are so woven together
that no force within the realms can sever this
bond, save the Creator Himself. As the Pack, they
live together, love together, and bleed together,
such is the way of the Lupine soul. Woe be to
the fool who draws the wrath of the Lupine pack
upon themselves.
Lupus has been known
to appear to mortals in the form of a Great White
Wolf, dashing through the underbrush of the lands,
on a never-ending hunt through the Ethers. By
the right side of the White Wolf walks Grimaldrin,
the long time hunting companion of Lupus Himself,
forever immortalized in the Hunt for his great
deeds as the Captain of Lupus' Werewolf Guardians.
Lupus is said to favor the talons of the mighty
birds of prey that soar through the heavens above,
as his shrines are known to reflect the might
of the Lupine Spirit in the beasts of the land.

Aegis,
God of War
Aegis is the
god of War. One of the elder gods of yore, he embodies
the part of mankind which many say is the most irrepresible...the
need for war. He is the patron god of many who claim
lordship and dominion over those who are weaker
than themselves, as well as those who have taken
war and made it their art, following warfare as
the eternal muse.
Those who call themselves
his prophets are the most exalted of his divine
order. Whilst the term 'prophet' has come to imply
meekness and pacifism to many, to those who follow
Aegis, this title is indeed the pinnacle of achievement.
Perhaps it was with some touch of humor that Aegis
declared that those who were to be held above
all others in service to him, those who had risen
to the highest esteem in his eyes as warriors,
would wear the title of Prophet. Above Warlords
do they stand. Above generals. Warlords in the
order of Aegis are to be accorded respect second
only to the Avatars of the god themselves.
Aegis is said to have
been absent from Achaea for many years, and the
reasons for this are unknown, a multitude of rumours
floating amidst the ranks of man.
Whatever the case, He
has returned.
Aegis has put out
the call to arms, beckoning those who would follow
him to petition. Of all the Gods, his motives
for accepting an induvidual into his order are
most easily understood. A love of war and combat
are paramount, but the attrition, or washout rate
for those petitioners is inclined to be a high
one, for Aegis is not merely some brute, unthinking
God. He seeks something more within those who
would follow him. What this is is a question which
will be asked in various forms to every petitioner
to his order.

Ourania,
Goddess of the Moon
Ourania is the
enigmatic Goddess of the Moon. She bears within
Her hands the Holy Lamp of the night sky, and the
stars, Her handmaidens, chant Her praises in the
heavens. Ourania stands between the Light and the
Dark, and it is said by some that She is the fulcrum
where they may meet. She is the light that shines,
unabashed, amid deepest, darkest night, yet also,
betimes, veils her radiance in stygian blackness.
Like the Moon and its
phases, Ourania is constant yet ever-changing.
Some may call Her fickle, but the truth is deeper.
This goddess is sometimes titled Trisagia, the
"Thrice-Holy," for She is a triune goddess
and may appear to mortals in the form of virginal
Maiden, fruitful Matron, or wizened Crone.
Little is truly known
of Her, but the loremasters say that hints as
to Her nature may be found within the physical
aspects of the lunar orb. As the moon rules the
tides of sea, so Ourania rules the tides in the
fates and fortunes of mortal kind. She sees that
which men hope to keep hidden in night, and ofttimes
even the day may find Her peering down, unnoticed
amidst the glare, upon the acts of the children
of the world. At her whim she reveals that which
is hidden or hides what should be evident. She
may stun with inspiration, or smite with insanity.
She is Mistress of Secrets, the Lady of Subterfuge.
Like the creatures of night, to whom only the
patient and serene moon bears witness, the esoteric,
eldritch and arcane arts are within her sway,
as are the secrets of dreams and divination.
Let no man or woman
tell you that he or she knows the ways of Ourania,
for Her faces and aspects are manifold, and are
veiled and unveiled at Her pleasure. The Holy
Symbol of Ourania is a waxing crescent Moon surrounded
by seven Stars, above a Tree of crystal with a
white Python wrapped about its trunk. All on a
field of black.

Maya, the Great Mother
The year 395 A.F. marked the conclusion of one epoch and the birth of
another. Sarapis, the Logos, who had overseen all Creation since the
beginning of Time itself, merged Makali, the Goddess of Destruction, and
Maya, the Mother of Humanity, into one being: Maya, the Great Mother.
Imbuing the new Goddess with His own power, He passed on to Her the mantle
of Supreme Creator of Achaea.
Maya, the Great Mother, exists at the fount of all Creation. Reality as it
is experienced through ordinary consciousness can be ultimately understood
as a manifestation of Her fundamentally creative energies. The multiplicities
and complexities of Creation belie their origin in the same Source, and
this illusion is called the Veil of Maya.
Her favoured animal is the Great Grey Owl, and it is said that She sometimes
appears in its form, seeing through its eyes.
|
Agatheis,
the Elemental Lord
Freed by the
benevolent Logos after centuries of imprisonment
as a Unicorn for his part in the Triumverate War,
Agatheis was the first Immortal to master full control
of the elements. His selfless act in rescuing Phaestus,
the Smith from His own imprisonment inside His hammer
earned Agatheis both freedom and a place in the
Garden once more.
Agatheis maintains a vast
library of books, dealing with many aspects of
life. He smiles upon engineers, scientists and
scholars - He does not waste time with those who
are not prepared to dedicate themselves to their
profession.
His symbol is a
black diamond divided into four smaller segments
- Red, yellow, green and blue.
|
 |
Tarah,
Goddess of Harmony
Tarah is the
goddess of harmony, mysticism and compassion. Playful
and free-spirited in nature, She supports the humble
of spirit in their journey towards self-mastery.
Her goal is a joyful life for all people, in harmony
with each other and with all creation. She works
tirelessly to oppose intolerance, hatred and arrogance
and replace them with empathy and understanding.
Tarah's appearance
is that of a young woman with short flame-red
hair. She loves the paradox of water - the way
it yields to all and yet always overcomes - and
her favoured places can be found near lakes or
oceans, where she likes to walk with those who
follow Her teachings. Tarah welcomes all into
Her order who seek to conquer their pride and
find joyous contentment in all that Is, warrior
and pacifist alike. She offers a gentle refuge
from attachment to life's turmoil. Her symbol
is a silver dolphin leaping against a deep blue
background, representing the unbounded joy and
contentment of a soul unhindered by selfish pride.
|
Lorielan,
the Goddess of Knowledge
Once the Queen
of Proteus, Lorielan yet possesses Her exquisite
beauty, rapier-sharp wit, and most importantly Her
divine power. Aeons of imprisonment after Her nearly-successful
attack on the elder gods as one member of the Triumverate
have shifted the goddess' bent for domination and
power in another direction. Confined to the Crystal
plane as the Jade Empress of the Kx'Khrah, She has
had untold ages in which to contemplate Her actions
and the wrongs which have resulted from their source.
Over
uncountable years has Her enlightenment grown and
Her heart shifted to a true desire to understand
that against which she once rebelled.
This essential change
within Her being did not go unnoticed. Sarapis
Himself visited Her in the heart of Her palace
and tested the very caliber of Her soul. His hand
and might have found Her pure, and He has released
Her from Her prison to join the other gods and
goddesses, and to walk the fields of Achaea once
more.
She has come to embody
the sphere of Knowledge in all its myriad aspects
and applications, and holds a special interest
in chroniclers, librarians, curators, students,
teachers and, indeed, any that pursue the goal
of enlightenment. Those who seek to follow in
Her path, treading the ways of
understanding, may appeal to the goddess directly
for acceptance into Her own Order.
Her symbol, chosen
with specific meaning to reflect the essential
aspect of knowledge to a fulfilling life, is the
golden ankh which represents both the immortality
of understanding and the endless renewal which
can be gained
through proper insight.

|
Pandora,
the Goddess of Mischief
Born of the seed of Chaos and War, Pandora is
the girl-child of twins born to Eris and Aegis
after Their marriage, the first in Immortal history.
Her twin brother was stolen to another Realm by
Lord Slith, of Chaos War fame and Their father,
Aegis gave chase, disappearing from the reach
of the Gods of Achaea.
Pandora has grown up,
the golden apple of Her Mother's eye, left to
run riot around Achaea. She began to play tricks
on the strange mortal creatures who, to Her, seemed
frail and amusing. The kind of child who pulls
the legs off craneflies to watch them flutter
around uselessly, Pandora's capers escalated abruptly,
when She took a precious artifact belonging to
Sarapis while He was away and ran rife turning
people into maggots, cripples and mutes. Her over-use
of this artifact caused it to fuse itself into
Her hand, making it necessary for Sarapis to amputate
Her hand at the wrist on His return.
Angry, but also amused
by Her activities, Sarapis branded Pandora with
the title 'Goddess of Mischief' so that mortals
would know their peril when She was near. Having
been severely chastened by losing Her hand, and
pulled into check by Her Mother, Pandora is now
the patron of all who are fun-loving, enjoy toppling
the structures of conformity and can orchestrate
a good prank.
Her symbol is a silver
hand, modeled on the one constructed for Her by
Phaestus.
|
Shaitan,
the God of Oppression
Once an Elder God who fought in the Chaos Wars in the beginning of time with
His dreadlords, Shaitan spent nearly two centuries joined with the god Apollyon in the form of Sartan, God of Evil, in a metaphysical union that only another
Divine could truly comprehend.
Returned to His former self, albeit changed in mysterious ways, Shaitan has taken on the title of the God of Oppression. The savage face of Evil takes full manifestation in Shaitan, who seeks to quench His bloodlust on any who stand against Him. He is contemptuous of less than direct methods in His pursuit of greatness, preferring raw power over deviousness: an axe to the throat over parleying with words. Domination over the weak and advancement of the flesh and spirit, at whatever cost, are His. Between He and the Suffering One, the Seven Truths of Evil are upheld.
A fierce and primeval God, Shaitan favours warriors, exulting in the carnage of
the battlefield and ruthless slaughter. Those who seek Him must be prepared for
a demanding and pitiless Master indeed. One who is not utterly devoted to the
path of domination over the weak and advancement of the flesh and spirit would
do well to avoid the path of this Horned God. |

Melantha, Goddess of the Seasons
When the Wyrm of the World imprisoned Demeter's soul in the netherworld, She
experienced a nightmare that would change Her forever. A ritual was performed to free her from this prison, and She was reborn as Melantha,
Goddess of the Seasons. She is the embodiment of dark and light within
Nature, Her personality changing with the Seasons to reflect the experiences
She had in the netherworld. Her first act upon returning from the
netherworld was to battle the Wyrm and rid the world of its evil influence.
Her realm is but one piece of the greater whole that is Nature, and She supports the balance of Nature, ccepting each Divine realm within it as an
integral part of the cycle of life. Each Season in turn is essential to the
Cycle: the Spring for cultivating birth and reawakening; the Summer for
nurturing life and growth; the Autumn for culling the ripened harvest; the
Winter for preserving through death and slumber. Each Season leads to the
next, on and on until the Cycle leads to the beginning to start again.
The Goddess of the Seasons teaches of Change, that inevitable part of each man's journey through these realms. She accepts among her followers those who embrace Change and strive to adapt and better themselves along the paths they choose. Each path leads to the next, just as the Seasons, and progress is measured by what Change has wrought when the Cycle leads a man back to
the beginning again.
|
Prospero,
the God of Wealth
As the Lord of Wealth,
Prospero shares with His followers an intense
passion for the finer things in life. His tastes
run the gamut from priceless jewelry to rare and
expensive ores, and He stores these acquisitions
within His vault on the Isle of Delos. It is said
that His
treasury outstrips even the hoards of the great
dragons of Achaea, but He is well-known for His
sumptuous feasts and generous gifts.
Located within
Delos is Lord Prospero's Bazaar, a motley assortment
of strange and fabulous market stalls bearing
exclusive and exotic wares. Rumour has it that
nearly anything can be purchased within the cluttered
shops of the Bazaar- provided, of course, that
the price is right. Prospero's followers can frequently
be found gleefully and adeptly haggling with the
shopkeepers there, and are generally considered
to be the most shrewd businessmen in Sapience.
They tend to be hard-working merchants and the
heirs of wealthy families, though anyone who answers
the siren's song of a well-polished sovereign
is familiar with the God of Trade and Wealth.
His symbol is a gleaming circlet forged of silver
and gold.

|
Aeyr,
God of Magic
Aeyr chooses to have limited interaction with
mortals and chooses not to provide any further
information about Himself. It is known, however,
that He uses his mastery of the very foundation
of magic to assist Sarapis in the alteration
of the fabric of reality.
|
Clementius,
the Weaver
Clementius
is the Weaver. By his power he aids Sarapis in
weaving reality. He has no order nor shrine,
and plans neither. He also eschews the use of
capitalisation for personal pronouns related
to himself.

|
Keresis,
Goddess of Vengeance
Vengeance is well known to the population of Sapience.
Each mortal and denizen has felt the all-consuming
desire for revenge and the emotionless plotting
that kindles after the flames die. Keresis, Goddess
of Vengeance is the avatar of these urges and Her
realm embodies both the passionate and the cold-hearted.
The Goddess of Vengeance can be a raging inferno,
barely cooling even as She destroys everything
around Her in a ten-fold equal share. She can also
manifest as a cold and calculating plot that destroys
everything those who anger Her hold dear, Her divine
retribution taking years to manifest. To Her, the
greatest acts of revenge are more than just physical
death - they are the systematic destruction of
mind, body and soul.
Some who do not understand Vengeance may label
Her evil, and in some ways She embraces the title.
For those who truly wish to embrace
Vengeance, morality and forgiveness are merely
needless obstacles getting in the way of reaching
one's goals.
Keresis, Goddess of Vengeance is not apologetic
for Her ways, and She cares little for those
who wish to be coddled and led down the path
of
true Vengeance. Her children are those that will
seek Her guidance and follow through to the climax
of their plans regardless of what pain
comes from it. Those who embody Her teachings
are Her children, and She is their harsh but
loving mother.
Those who desire to obtain entrance into Her
order must see Vengeance from all sides and seek
to understand its myriad facets. All aspirants
should have a grasp of what revenge means to
them, and be able to temper their natural instincts
in favour of the bigger picture.
Her Divine symbol is of a sword pointing down
with a large python twisting around the blade.
Perched upon the pommel of the blade is a
large crow with its wings outspread.

Neraeos,
God of the Sea
The divine child of Caspian,
the Elder God of the Seas, and an unknown mother,
Neraeos was born a Demi-God early in the history
of the world. He was raised in the faraway undersea,
among the tritonic empires. Living there, He
grew into a scholar, a philosopher and a warrior.
He fought with distinction in the Battle of Nishnatoba,
having led a legion of tritons under the command
of His father. After the War of Power was finished,
Neraeos disappeared for the rest of recorded
history, living among the peoples of the sea.
Upon the fall and death of Caspian, the mantle
of Godhood passed to Neraeos, and He has since
emerged from the Deep, curious, yet suspicious
of the world above.
Neraeos is the God of the Sea, the Keeper of
the Lakes, and Master of Flowing Waters. He is
at times cold and placid, yet He can be driven
to great passions, for good or for ill. The fickle,
tempestuous sea reflects His moods, the waters
an extension of His will. Neraeos feels that
it is the duty of His Order to watch over the
waters of Achaea, to nurture and protect them,
to make certain that the oceans and the peoples
that dwell within them are kept safe both from
the foul beasts of the deep, and from the greedy
hands of those who walk the land. The virtues
espoused by the Lord of the Sea include those
of Strength, Passion, Vigilance, and Duty.
The Sea is Eternal, yet always in Flux. Cloaking
the vast reaches of Achaea, its waters are the
blood of the world, a sustainer of life. At the
same time, the Sea is capable of passionate,
merciless destruction. A paradox, a riddle, a
mystery... The Sea is all of these and more,
and
but few of the land will ever truly understand it.

Matsuhama,
The Eternal Warrior
Little is documented
about the Lord of Combat since the conquest
over the Triumvirate and the forces of the
Inferno. There are stories told among warriors
of a handsome man, who has been seen wandering
battlefields and slaughtering entire armies
single-handedly. While other tales tell of
a man who would appear from thin air, flanked
by a phalanx of four-armed armored men, all prepared
to rush into the conflict, only to stand and observe
the outcome of the battle before vanishing just
as mysteriously as they appeared. Other fables
speak of a lone man who travels battlefields, healing
the fallen so they may
rise again and continue to fight.
Of all the stories, whether they be myth or
fact, one thing has always been constant and
true about Matsuhama and that is His passion
for combat. He takes great pleasure in combat,
whether it is participating in a great battle
among armies, a single match against a lone foe
or observing skilled warriors.

Indrani,
Lady of Sin
"The only
true sin is that of self-deception." Devotees
of the Lady Indrani assert that this simple phrase
is the key to understanding Her realm in its
totality . . . a goal sought by many, but achieved
by few. They maintain that the so-called "Seven
Sins" - Lust,
Envy, Gluttony, Pride, Wrath, Avarice, and Dominion
- are characteristics inherent in every sentient
being, and only through experiencing and mastering
these aspects of their personas can true power
over oneself and others be exercised.
The Lady of Sin Herself wears many faces, but
each bears the mark of Desire; the allure of
the forbidden, the unattainable, and pleasures
both sacred and profane. She embodies temptation
in its purest form, and delights in confounding
mortal perceptions of morality. Her philosophies
are realized in
the symbols of the hooded serpent and the arcane
septagram.

Miramar,
Goddess of Justice
Known as also the Even-handed, Miramar is the
Goddess of Justice and She has meted out Justice
since before the Triumvirate. Her realm encompasses
not only Justice; it also includes the realms
of Good and Judgement.
Those seeking Justice are never turned away
from Her presence, no matter what creed or ethos
they ascribe. For some this may be incomprehensible
that She would extend Her hand toward those that
others may see as not deserving. None are undeserving
of Justice, regardless being the victim or aggressor,
as both will be equally viewed by the Even-handed.
Aspirants to Her Order must possess a strong
arm, quick mind, and propensity for good. They
must be able to see all acts from many angles
in order to demonstrate a strong grasp of Justice,
Judgement, and Law. Miramar's realm can be both
confusing and exhilarating, but for those with
an aptitude to Her teachings they will find it
a rewarding experience. Her most holy symbol
is that of the silver Scales of Justice, its
balance only swayed by acts of justice and injustice.

Kastalia, Goddess of Lakes and Rivers
Given life by the will of two Gods and purpose by the call of nature,
Kastalia is the Goddess and Protectress of Lakes and Rivers and a friend to
nature. She is the daughter of Ourania, Goddess of the Moon and Neraeos,
Lord of the Sea, and is represented by an ivory water lily.
In the year 385 AF, the Goddess of the Moon arose from Her slumber at the
bottom of the ocean off the coast of Tasur'ke. As She did so, She shed a
single tear for the beauty of the vast world She was leaving behind. The
tear rolled off Her cheek and into the churning waters where it was seemingly forgotten.
However, rather than let it drift aimlessly through the ocean, Neraeos, God of the Sea captured the tear and placed it in a hidden temple to the Goddess Ourania in Riparium for safekeeping. Along with the tear, He sent a trusted priest to tend to its growth.
For nine years, the priest kept vigil over the tear as it was nurtured by the ocean. The tear began to transform and grow more quickly. Feeling its call, the rivers and lakes began to flow towards the ocean, carrying towards the tear their purer waters until the lakes had all but dried themselves out. Satiated at last, the tear blossomed into the form of a fully-grown young Goddess.
Kastalia looks favourably upon accomplished explorers and those who strive to know the ins and outs of the lands, and enjoys exploring places Herself
whether She has seen them before or not. She prefers to dwell within natural environments near a source of water, and can sometimes be seen by explorers
as She wanders through wilds in the dead of night, beckoning those who have become lost in the mists to safety.

Selene, Goddess of Beauty and Love
Feisty and flirtatious, Selene favours those who seek to find Beauty and Love in all that they encounter, especially within oneself. Love of oneself is not
to be confused with arrogance however. Only through accepting and even
embracing one's own faults, can one truly seek beauty in the world and honestly
love others.
Selene seeks to share Her view of the world with all who wish to learn it.
Although most mortals are content with their own unique views of love, Selene
tries to help them recognise that Love has no boundaries and encompasses many
different elements while still remaining faithful unto itself.
Beauty, as well, can be found anywhere one seeks it, as long as it is truly
sought, for Beauty appears in more forms than the mortal mind can imagine or
even comprehend.
Accepting and loving towards all She meets, Selene is the summation of all that
is perfect in love and beauty: yet this does not mean She is easily blinded. Quite the contrary! Love in its truest form is not blind as some would say, but
more accurately sees all and understands it for what it is, seeking only to
embrace things for what they truly are, not for what one wishes them to be. By
this same token, love is not easily taken advantage of, since it is fully aware of what is underneath and will not participate in its own destruction.

Apollyon, the Suffering
Revealed together with Aurora, soon joined with Shaitan in a perfect combination as Sartan, accustomed both to unquestioned rule and complete agreement with His co-ruler, Apollyon, the Suffering has only recently emerged from His sublimation as part of Sartan into full independence and separate being. He retains a remarkably intimate link with Shaitan, alongside whom He
labours towards Their joint ends.
The losses He suffered during the initial absorption are unutterably deep. As a
permanent token of those sufferings, and as a means to more complete mastery, Apollyon has taken on The Ultimate Wounding. Apollyon's suffering taught Him
much of introspection, indirection, subtlety, manipulation, and mental control.
The Suffering God is sought by many, though truly apprehended by few. His presence is widespread, though almost impossible to discern. So also are His followers. Let those who comprehend this mystery fashion their approach to Apollyon accordingly.

Hermes, the Messenger
The Messenger is an ever-youthful deity who began His existence as a Celani. Long ago, He risked all in an audacious bet against Raclawice, the Elder
Goddess who was the patron of Rogues and Wanderers. Winning the bet, He
gained her godhood and took over her realm. Hermes holds true to the realm
which He won. Hermes is the patron of rogues, wanderers, and those who seek
or are graced with Luck.
The arcane symbol of Hermes, the Messenger, is the Caduceus, His heraldic staff. Two serpents intertwine around its length, their heads facing each
other at the top which is adorned with a pair of wings. His more public
symbol is a golden playing card: the Ace of Spades.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun
A recently arisen star in the Garden, Mithraea was born through the melding
of primal fire, extraordinary mortal faith and dedication, and the will of
the Logos. She acts as the sentinel of the sun, and is in some fashion, its creator as it was birthed from the same primal fire which is now a part of
Her makeup. It is through Her energy and vigilance that the Sun is maintained, yet She gives it and all that comes from it as a gift to the mortals of Achaea. She is a bringer of life, hope, clarity, and healing.
From Her celestial throne, She watches the movements of mortals and divine alike and is especially fascinated by the mortal drive and ability to
overcome even the greatest of odds. Though many seemingly insurmountable
forces align against them, some still perservere. Mithraea enjoys fostering
this trait in mortals and has a great interest in seeing mortalkind as a whole reach its full potential.
She also has a strong affinity to life, and wishes to see it flourish in all
its varied forms. This does not mean She has a distaste for death as it is a
natural conclusion to life, but She abhors needless destruction and mindless
brutality. Her love of life has also inspired Her to be a patron of the
healing arts. She has a profound empathy towards those in need of healing
and will go to great lengths to ensure they receive it. She also delights in
finding ever more effective treatments for afflictions and infirmities.

Artemis, Goddess of the Cataclysm
Born of a seed of Destruction within the temple of Gaia and Propasia, the
exiled spirit of the forest which once lay beneath Cyrene's cobblestone,
the personification of primal, violent nature has come in the form of
Artemis. She manifests within the raw force of the rumbling in the earth and
the heart of a volcano. She is nature at its cruelest, its most unrelenting
and fiercest. Like a building tremor in the earth She comes, raining down
upon those who do Her charge harm.
The Cataclysm is a dispassionate force, set apart from the ideals of 'Good' and 'Evil'. There is only what 'is', and with nature in particular, that
'is' constantly redefines itself. Artemis embodies the unpredictable
ferocity of Nature and is a guiding force to those who seek to maintain the
natural balance with spear, sweat, and blood. She often appears as a fiery
jungle warrior, and Her Divine symbol is that of a yew tree, split by a bolt
of lightning. Like that bolt, the Cataclysm comes sudden and strong - She is
the Warrioress of Nature. Woe to the fool who crosses Her and invokes Her
wrath.
