Green Lake was formed countless years ago after a small meteor careened into
Sapience, the deep-set depression filling with water to form the small,
foul-smelling reservoir just off the Prelatorian Highway. The putrid water
has been tainted by masses of algae and weed, giving it a perpetual jade
tinge that provides life for the abundant wildlife that teems above and
below the surface. Years of exposure to the tainted surroundings have
mutated the wildlife into twisted versions of their commonly found brethren.
Many adventurers know when they are in the vicinity of the lake by the
unmistakable stench that wafts from its muddy banks.
